Chime

The 21 bells of the TEMC chime were cast in the foundry of John Warner and Sons of London, England and installed in 1914. Only instruments of 23 bells or more can be called a carillon. The TEMC chime is the largest in Canada. The biggest bell, called "Big Tim," weighs 6,757 pounds, which is exceptionally heavy for a chime. To play the chime, one grips the large batons and pulls them down. There is one pedal connected to the clapper of the largest bell. This bell can also be played by pulling a rope.
